There's a showdown in the Square this week, as Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater) desperately tries to stop her dad Ian (Adam Woodyatt) from marrying Mandy (Nicola Stapleton).
But, when Mandy discovers that Ian is utterly broke, will she still go through with the wedding and, when Ian threatens to leave the Square, what will Phil say?

I agree, East Enders is ace!!! I think the acting is actually brilliant and yes, the storylines are a bit contrived but who wants to watch real-life stuff, I'm living that already.
A quick appreciation for the character Derek - he is phenomenal and although I wouldn't want to bump into him down a dark alley, he actually makes me laugh so much, wonderful!
It's just one step short of a pantomime but I love it.

I finally binned Eastenders a year ago after struggling with increasingly ridiculous story lines and unsympaphetic characters, having seen it from day one it has gone from watchable light drama to mind numbing bilge! Where do they get their writers from - care in the community???
But at least, one element has not changed - see below.................................
Ian Beale the new Ken Barlow - zero acting talent but a lifelong job portraying an unbelieveable character!
Nice work if you can get it!

Oh by the way, in the context you're using it, the word is affect not effect and the correct spelling for the word 'trys' is TRIES.

Considering msn are too cowardly to let the public reply to proper news, politics, immigration or any other major issue that directly involves us and their insistance on dumbing down everything for the masses, it's little wonder that we've been reduced to limiting our opinions to fantasy whether it be dancing dogs or rubbish soaps.
I don't know what's worse. MSN baffling us with bull**** or the public that respond to it. Me included.
We've become a race of imbeciles and msn are pointing the direction to how you should think and what you should comment on. Your freedom of speech is being eroded and you are letting it happen.

Yeah, I think Mad Mandy will go ahead and marry a skint Ian, she's desperate for the love she can only find in a family set up, she was terribly let down by her Mother, and she's keen to prove to Ian that she is not a gold digger - we'll see!!!

Ian Beale is one of the few characters in Eastenders who is not a wannabe gangsta , but still comes across as unbelievable & silly . This week it was anounced that the girl who played Za Za last year , and turned into a big flop ,is now co-writing Eastenders , that is the reason the storylines are racing downhill . Writers from Uni. or stage school protected from the real world by wealthy middle -class parents , with no knowledge of life especially working class , life ! .
