X Factor 2012: Shock as Robbie Hance leaves boot camp at first hurdle

Saturday night's episode of X Factor saw dozens of contestants booted out of boot camp before they even had a chance to practise their scales, let alone perform for the judges, so from the off it was a tearful episode. Not only that, but there were dodgy outfits, ac ontestant who turned up drunk after one-too many drinks and the sad departure of hopeful Robbie Hance (above, centre).
It's with a heavy heart we say goodbye to Robbie, who quickly became one of the X Factor's most talked-about contestants - the homeless singer became a favourite after showing off his terrific voice in the auditions. He could have been a huge success had he tried harder, but in boot camp he failed to put in the effort required to perform his 'battle' with singers Adam Burridge and Jake Quickenden and he left the stage after forgetting his lyrics.

Please bring Robbie back he deserves another chance, I think he has confidence issues and also has problems mixing with strangers........poor chap

You can tell from some the comments on here some people don't have a clue about the effects of homelessness. He's mentally scarred, mentally damaged by his experience of living on the street. That is so obvious. Comments such as 'You just can't help some people' demonstrates the utter ignorance and lack of understanding of much of society. One of the most disgraceful facts about homelessness is the fact that the majority of homeless find themselves thrown out on the street by homeless charities which are supposed to be helping them, despite them receiving as much as £250 per week to house them. These charities are not charities, they are ruthless corporate business's avoiding paying tax, who usually throw someone out on the street over a £25 top up charge, unpaid due to alcohol or drug addiction.
The charities are part of the problem. Homelessness is big business and the tax payer is getting ripped off by these charities offering very little for the money they receive. How can a charity be a charity when they are charging £250 per week for a room the size of a toilet? I didn't realise charity had a price.

Interesting :) I don't usually watch such programs however I did see the exerpt involving Robbie Hance. Anyone who appears to have made a negative comment about Hance getting off his backside has been given thumbs down on quite a few occasions. Poor Robbie Hance life has dealt him such a bad hand, Then I look at the paralympians who have achieved against all odds and overcome both mental and physical setbacks in their life but seized their chance and achieved great things. Robbie Hance did not seize his chance he laughed, then smirked, then walked off .... he gave up because he knows people will always feel sorry for him
But more so he did not only give up on himself he gave up on the other two guys who also had their dreams nobody has mentioned that and for that alone Robbie Hance gets the thumbs down from me

Really think Robbie, should be given another chance! SLEEPING ROUGH AND BEING HOMELESS, HAS PROBABLY TAKEN ITS TOLL,! His body was probably desperate for sleep, and he does have a brilliant voice. This would be a total life changer for him.

The sound that the judges hear in the "Echo" must be totally different to what we hear on our TV sets because I would have sent many more home. Some of the ones the judges kept on at "boot camp" sounded woeful!

Now Robbie has made is mark on National Television,Im sure someone will spot him and give him a chance.Everyone deserves a second chance and whilst we should not judge,understand the reason why Robbie is homeless and not hearsay.

I think this competition is too much pressure for him. What he really needs is studio time to do his own thing. If were honest the shows a farce any way. Its more about entertainment than finding the next great pop talent. If it was all about talent we'd never see the crap ones.

SHOCK.!!...only a couple of weeks ago it was reported he'd " gone missing " and everyone was worried....he was never missing..he walked...with the cameras following him!!
What a staged publicity stunt that was....I wouldn't be at all surprised if he is miraculously reinstated only to be told he deserves another chance....everything on these talent / reality shows is well and truly staged !!

The contestants were given a list of about 6 songs , put in groups of three with singers of different styles and told to learn the song. MOST UNFAIR. A+R departments spend Months matching up
Artists to artists and songs to artists. In the real world you won't find blues singers doing country
or rock singers doing opera. To expect amature performers to cope with this pressure off the cuff
is ridiculous. None of the judges could ever have done this at any time in their careers.

so very unfair the way bootcamp was done, an artist is the way they r with their guitar snatched away and taken out their comfort zone thrown with strangers singing a song they dont even like...just plain unfair...bring Robbie back Gary with a wildcard

Given some of the so called talent put through to the next round when they stuffed up, surely they should have gone after Robbie and given him a 2nd chance. It is obvious it was going to be tough on him having to perform minus guitar and with others. Hope some talent scout outwith X Factor will take him on board as this guy has the potential to be huge.

You insinuated homelessness and drug abuse in the blog by using it in connection with the discussion re Robbie and his appearance in X Factor. You suggested he could be abusing the system and then ranted on about this subject. The dialogue was supposed to be about Robbie and the fact there may have been many deserving reasons why he was unable to complete his audition. Reasons possibly due to the situation of his homelessness, lack of confidence or maybe just the way he may have been received or treated. Nobody knows but I think quite a few people would have liked him to continue. His voice had an interesting tone.
