X Factor 2012 started its ninth series with a bang. Tulisa Contostavlos, Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger take to the road to find the next singing star of tomorrow. Find out how they got on in this gallery.
Ella is a 16-year-old student from Linconshire. She performed her own composition as a tribute to her late grandfather. By the time she finished, there wasn't a dry eye. Spice Girl Mel B, who'd poured scorn over just about everyone else - even an old man - lavished praise on Ella: "What we just witnessed was incredible, absolutely incredible." Ella sailed into the next round.
Ella - who is being hailed as 'a new Adele' - is also MSN's star performer of the week. Auditioning for X Factor with an original composition is incredibly risky, but it paid off.

Yes just watched this who on earth does this person think she is. No one asked her to sing a Pink song, which was rubbish and then they gave her another chance which was also rubbish. I cannot believe the arrogant reaction to being told she wasn't good enough, she swore, very lady like, threw the mic across the stage very childish, then continued to bully anyone who got in her way. She really made the public warm to her ,NOT, infact she made a complete spectacle of herself. I think her parents, who are also tribute acts, should stand up and tell her the truth that she isn't any good, which by the audience's reaction is reiterated. Spoilt brat little madam comes to mind, you will never make it in show business if you can't take criticism your ego is far to big and your singing voice mediocre, pubs and bars will be your stage in the future you just aren't good enough to become professional especially with your attitude. You just blew all your chances tonight, no one will want to employ you incase you kick off.

Very disapointed with that useless has-been Mel B tonight. I mean it wouldn't been as bad if she could even sing in her heyday, but to be so rude to participants?!
If Simon Cowell thinks idiots like her would raise the show's ratings he's wrong. She's annoying and a complete waste of a seat, oh and totally clueless about music.

zoe alexander showed her true colours, what a nasty piece of work, she thought she had won it, already ,narrow escape for the judges ,as one of them would of had to work with her.

Jahmene Douglas was quite special.
I'm amazed he's not previously been snapped up but perhaps has never put himself forward. He DID seem quite nervy and nervous! TOO good for this show. Wish someone would snap him up now to save him this pantomime...nevertheless Good Luck!

OMG This girl was fantastic. Had to watch it straight away again, and found myself singing her tune after.

It almost seemed that some of the "scenes" were rehearsed.... the guy singing Loius Armstrong and the welsh lass.... all a bit to clever. Would they even go to those extremes to spice it up and have little sound bites for TV adverts?

I felt that Mel B seemed to be reading a script where she had to be seen as an nasty and insensitive piece of garbage - she didn't disappoint viewers of the show. I was gobsmacked by the Asda man. he seemed to be a fragile and nervous man, but he could really belt out his tune. (It was nearly a Susan Boyle moment.) The girl who sang her own tune wasn't that good, but she was manufactured to look better than she was. The Pink tribute girl did herself absolutely no favours. She didn't even sound good as pink - maybe she had a split personality as opposed to her looking for an identity.

The pink girls audition was a real Tracy Barlow moment. And how ugly was she ? not only inside but outside. Well she's blown it for all the family. And the guy from Asda. Fabulous. fingers crosssed there.But that Tulissa needs a reality check. People who work in supermarkets are real people and do have other abilities, walking, talking singing etc. And especially with the recession lots of over qualified people are now stacking shleves. But some people do it because they like the job and not everyone who has talent gets to be rich and famous. You tube is full of people who can sing that arent getting anywhere and that is down to being spotted and being promoted etc. It's the luck of the draw.

loved this girls song n voice... dont compare her to adele... she is to good to be compared to others... she is original and bloody brilliant in every way. BTW mel b had no choice but to lavish praise on this girl as she herself is a talentless old trout.

i also think that should be the first and LAST time mel b is on the show, there is being constructive critical and being downright rude to people and i would say she was the latter!!
