X Factor contestant James Arthur put in a great performance on last night's live show but it has been reported that he later 'collapsed' and was treated by paramedics after suffering from a panic attack.

The 23-year-old, who is being mentored by Nicole Scherzinger, was spotted being taken outside looking distressed and unwell after his performance of Mary J Blige's No More Drama.

X Factor insiders have ensured viewers that an ambulance was called as a precaution but that James was not taken to hospital. He's said to have gone straight back to the contestants' hotel and had a good night's sleep.

A spokesperson for X Factor says: "James Arthur became unwell after his performance on the show last night. An ambulance was called as a precaution but he was not taken to hospital and he will appear on tonight's show. The welfare of contestants is our key priority and we work with them to provide any support that is needed."

And James remains positive after his anxiety attack.

"I had an anxiety attack last night, maybe because I gave everything i had to my performance," he says.

"I feel loads better this morning after a good night's sleep and I'm looking forward to tonight's show - there's no way I am missing it."
