Strictly 2013: Tony Jacklin and Aliona Vilani
Strictly Come Dancing has said farewell to its first celebrity as Tony Jacklin failed to impress the public and judges Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood, Len Goodman and Darcey Bussell.
Golfer Tony Jacklin and professional partner Aliona Vilani ended up in the dreaded dance-off alongside fashion designer Julien Macdonald and his partner Janette Manrara.
Both couples performed their routines again; Tony and Aliona did their Charleston to Duke Ellington's It Don't Mean A Thing (If Ain't Got That Swing) and Julien performed his tango to Applause by Lady Gaga.
Craig, Darcey and Bruno all chose to save Julien. Head judge Len said: “Tony, you’ve been one of my golfing heroes all of my life. Sadly I have to say I would have gone with Julien and Janette, but you’re still one of my heroes.”
Reflecting back on the results, Tony said: “I’m a tough pupil. Aliona is a wonderful teacher. I’m going to stick to golf I think. I have enjoyed myself, it’s been a glimpse into another world which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I had no concept of the work that goes into this, and the work ethic that these girls have. I did my best.”
