Louis Smith and Flavia Cacace
The Strictly Come Dancing 2012 line-up have treated viewers to some memorable moments already, and Hollywood week didn't disappoint. Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli were on great form; what did they think of the performances? Find out in this gallery.
Olympian Louis and partner Flavia had a huge challenge with their salsa to (I've Had) The Time of My Life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. The movie? Dirty Dancing, of course. I had high expectations for this routine; Louis did a good job (especially with the lifts) and the crowd absolutely loved it.
But although his routine was clearly intended to be the showstopper, it didn’t please all of the judges and it wasn’t enough to dislodge Denise Van Outen from the top of the leaderboard.
“Contained, simmering, understated. I love all the hip rotation. It was fantastic,” Craig decided. But Len Goodman wasn’t as impressed – he felt it “lacked a bit of attack”.
Darcey Bussell also had some advice: “I would like you to get out to a nightclub, and free-up. The salsa has to be freer,” she said. Louis had to settle for 30 points, while Denise was awarded 32 points.

6 ?........six ??........SIX ???......."SIX" ????.,....for the,.. "By far best dance of the show so far!!!!,..from Len!!!!!!,.....I feel the judges are undermarking Louis due to the fact he is a silver medalist olympic gymnast,..whom,..can do things the male PROFESSIONALS,. cannot,. and would never dream of attempting on the dance floor!!...............many of the previous female contestants on "Strictly",..like Denise Van Outen,. have a background of,.....Dance classes and west end shows experience,...which I feel gives THEM,.. an advantage,.......C`mon Louis!!!!!!.....strut your stuff!!!
loved lewis smith dance, it was brill
yes, this was a memorable night for strictly fans -it was superb to see someone other than patrick swazye take on this roll (although i do think louis lacked the smokey eyed look patrick had in the film), but was it just re-created for tv ratings,
i feel the producers of the show made use of someone who was young, fit and knew the just what the body had to do to make this 'show stopping piece' go without a hitch..something very few people will ever be able to do..and although it was fantastic see it happen, in my view, it wasnt what the show is about..
strictly come dancing isnt about re creating an iconic dance routine, and i was disappointed the judges didnt comment more on this-len did right to give a low rating; flavia didnt have to give any thought to what they did in the 'hollywood' dance, it was already delivered for her by masters of choreography years ago. very disappointed in flavia.
U2ROPA and your choice would be? Another game show??????????? There is only one Strictly but umpteen game and sport shows on though the week. Be fair. Also do not preach about that of which you know clearly know nothing ie tin man and lack of heart and the 70 year career of Sir Bruce Forsyth. Common sense should tell you that knighthoods are not given to one time game show hosts.
this is a garbage tv show and worse it took so much airtime last night, what if you don't like strictly. ok yes you can turn it over but I pay my licence fee yet have very little say on how its spent, BBC saturday night tv is dreadful, this dross, casualty, football etc what ever happened to decent tv game shows or a good saturday night evening movie. Yes strictly is popular I can't deny it but give us a break old brucie bonus forsyth he needs to retire yet he shuffles out with his geriatric moves giving his pathetic one liner's.
I caught the start of last nights show and saw some balloon walking out dressed as the tin man from wizard of oz what a tube. If it was for charity great but its to give so called celebs airtime very poor Beeb think of the wider audience base.
