Former X Factor winner Shayne Ward was "devastated" as he became the latest celebrity voted off Dancing On Ice.
He ended up in the skate-off with ex-EastEnders actor Matt Lapinskas, but both are far from the worst skaters in the competition.
Unfortunately, it's a scenario that occurs time and time again in shows relying on the public; sometimes, viewers do not vote the way the competition results dictate.
Despite the likes of Samia Ghadie and Joe Pasquale scoring fewer points, they survived thanks to their fans.
Shayne, who more recently starred in West End musical Rock Of Ages, could not hide his disappointment as his ice-dancing journey came to an end.
On hearing his fate, he said: "I'm absolutely devastated." Paying tribute to his fellow celebrities and ice dancers, the star said: "Thank you so much, you've been an amazing bunch."

This sort of farce brings the whole concept of viewer voting into total disrepute. It was clear that Samia was totally embarassed by the fiasco. Neither of the skate off competitors shoild have been involved, and this means that entertaining, competent competitors have been eliminated, leaving us to watch the embarassing performances by the likes of Samia and Joe. Surely there is every justification for a recount!!!!!!!!!!!!

This result is an absolute farce.
The bottom two were far the worst skaters.
Although I like Samia, I would never vote to keep her in at the expense of another better skater.
As far as Joe Pasquale is concerned, he should never have been in the show, he his a bad joke.
This is probably the worst line up of the entire series.

Shane should not have been voted out. I feel very sorry for him especially as other crappy skaters stayed in. It makes me think that it is fixed! Pascale should definitely,go. Never mind Shane we all know that you were a worthy skater. xx

Thats when the judges should overule and skate of the bottom 2 all the time....
If there isnt a rethink then I wont bother watching again...I thought Pamela Anderson had a raw deal also...she was good but her costume wasn't.

Sorry but that's the end of the line for me for this show. Have watched virtually every week but no more. Jason is the only judge who says it fairly - the skate off should be perfect - so the others voting for Matt who stumbled and all but fell over was a joke. Yes he's a good skater but would Robin Cousins have won his competitions if he did the same? A huge joke at the expense of Torvill and Dean and if I were them I'd run for the hills asap. As for Karen Barber - well don't start me on that one. There should NOT be a coach on the judging panel. I don't care how good they were in the week, at rehearsals etc., it's on the night that counts and she should know that. You can't help the public voting for their favourite and this will happen in all these types of shows. With a good judging panel (not the one now) it should be up to them until the semi finals and then let the public vote on the best dancer or skater. Mind you that wouldn't line the coffers would it? Sorry but I agree with other comments - an absolute farce.

results like this turn the whole show into a farce. It is supposed to be an ice dancing comp not a celebrity popularity comp. 3 other competitors are worse ice skaters, Joe and Keith will never be dancers and Sam could hardly stand up skating on her own. If they had had the bottom two drop out the show would not be worth watching after this weeks debacle. If ITV don't find a better way of losing the worst each week the show should be dropped.

It's not a fixed vote, it's obviously the stupid British public, yet again voting for their 'favourite' person in the show, not for
their skating abilities! - it happens in all the 'reality' shows!!

I thought this was a skating contest yet the person leaving is one of the best skaters it says a lot for the people voting How anybody could vote through Joe Pasquale and Samia Ghadie over Shane just makes the whole competition a farce

Ridiculous. The public vote should be given a lower percentage. I missed Shamia, so can;t comment on her. Joe Pasquale was a disaster and Cheggers only slightly better. The whole Idea is for those who manage to go from no skating to a reasonable standard to continue and NOT voting for those who are just an embarassment and no-one wants to watch again anyway.

When people are told the lines are open vote for your favourites, that is exactly what they do. They don't vote for the best skaters which is what they should be told to do... It wasn't fair, you could see by Samia's face she knew she should have been the one to go... or Joe Pasquale, he fumbled and tripped his way through his routine yet saved because he is a favourite person of the people...

I turned on too late for Samia but Joe & Keith without doubt - although have done well and have improved - as far as skating goes they are outclassed by everyone else. Has definitely put me off the programme - not sure that I'll bother to watch again next week!

This was the Skate-off that should never have been ! I do wish the British public would vote for the people who are skating well and improving instead of this ridiculous habit of voting for a clown or the person who seeks the most sympathy. In the beginning Squeaky Joe was funny (even though his 'jokes' were related to his backside as usual !) but after a few weeks its wears a bit thin and we should be concentrating on the main feature of the show and that is Dancing on Ice. Now that Shayne has been voted off in favour of someone who clearly is uncomfortable on skates we all have to suffer watching poor skating again ! This is grossly unfair on those whe genuinely try to improve and in Shaynes case this is particularly true as he was one of the weaker skaters at the beginning and had improved immensely over the weeks, perhaps we should just have a skate-off between the two lowest scores from the judges and not have a public vote at all.

I think this is bound to happen as long as the public asked to vote for their favourite? The presenters should ask the public to vote for the celebrity they think skated best. As long as they are asked to vote for their favourite fiascos of this nature are bound to happen.
