Voice reject Cooper claims ageism
Willi.i.am chose not to take J Marie Cooper through to the live finals of The Voice
The Voice reject J Marie Cooper has blasted the show claiming she was kicked off because of her age.
The 27-year-old singer was booted off the show by coach Will.i.am following her performance in the battle rounds against 17-year-old Sophie Griffin.
J Marie raged: "I am gutted... I wanted to do the live shows. Feel the decision could have been based more on my voice.
"There was a lot cut from my final edit of The Voice, including any emotion or story I might have had.
"I don't feel I was portrayed entirely correctly. I have experience as a singer yes, but needed this opportunity too. I am still working for £7.50 an hour, So the whole 'she's so experienced' thing is a bit much. I am but don't think it should be a reason not to go through.
"I have a lot of love for all of the contestants on The Voice and I still support the show. But I'm real and always gonna tell it like it is.
"The fact that I am 27 should not have even been a factor. It's called 'The Voice' not 'The Age'. I'm stating facts here.
"'She's as good as she can get' also an assumption. Everyone knows as an artist/singer you never stop learning."
J Marie said she had told Black Eyed Peas star Will how she felt too.
But she has since taken down the comments and added: "No regrets. You learn from everything and I have learned a lot from this."
