Teri Hatcher lines up new TV role

Teri Hatcher has lined up a new TV gig following the end of Desperate Housewives.

The actress, who starred as Wisteria Lane's hapless Susan Mayer for the entire eight-year run of the show, will appear in four episodes of comedy drama Jane By Design, TVLine.com reports.

Teri, 47, will play the estranged mum of Jane (Erica Dasher) and will also be at the helm of an episode.

The actress said she is excited about directing an instalment of the show, which also stars David Clayton Rogers and Andie MacDowell.

She went on: "So many of the crew and cast of Desperate Housewives have been encouraging me to do this for a long time, from Vanessa Williams, James Denton, to the talented camera crew department and producers.

"Now that I have time, I'm excited to wholeheartedly conquer new ventures."

It was revealed last year that Desperate Housewives would be coming to an end after eight seasons. The finale is due to be aired in the US this month.
