Soap's Oaten: I can slob out on set

Emmerdale's Gemma Oaten has admitted she loves the tracksuits her tomboy character Rachel Breckle wears.

The Hull-born actress told this week's Inside Soap magazine how she sits back in her comfy jogging bottoms and laughs at all the girls like Chas Dingle who are tottering around in stilettos.

Gemma said: "I'm so comfy when I'm on set, and I see people like Natalie Anderson [Alicia] tottering around in heels! It's lucky because during the winter I can put on warm thermals underneath my tracksuits."

But the soap star - who loved getting dressed up for the British Soap Awards - admitted there was a downside to being so dressed down all the time.

She said: "It's like a double-edged sword for me. The flip side of it is that people don't recognise me if I'm glammed up! But it's good when I get to go back home, as I can live my normal life."
