Emmerdale stars Jeff Hordley, Chris Chittell and Tony Audenshaw took part in a record-breaking Great North Run at the weekend.

The actors - who play bad boy Cain Dingle, businessman Eric Pollard and barman Bob Hope in the ITV soap - were among the record-breaking number of almost 55,000 people to run the 13-mile route across Tyneside.

Tony ran despite having an injured left leg after falling off stage the night before while singing with his rock band White Van Man. He told the Daily Mirror: "It was a privilege to run in the Pride of Britain team on what is always a magic day."

Coronation Street star John Michie, 56, who plays Karl Munro, also took part.

As well as being cheered on, the actor found soap fans haven't forgiven Karl for stealing shopkeeper Dev Alahan's wife.

John revealed: "People have been shouting 'What about Dev?' and 'What do you think you're doing with Sunita?'."
