Benedict Cumberbatch has been named Best Actor at the TVChoice Awards
Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch is celebrating a double success after being named Best Actor at the TVChoice Awards while the hit detective show won the gong for Best Drama.
Comic Miranda Hart walked away with the Best Actress trophy for her performance as Chummy in Call The Midwife.
The BBC show, based on Jennifer Worth's books about working as a midwife in the East End of London in the 1950s, was crowned Best New Drama - beating Channel4's American import Homeland.
The ceremony at the Dorchester in London's Mayfair also saw Doctor Who named Best Family Drama.
But its stars Karen Gillan and Matt Smith missed out after being nominated for Best Actress and Best Actor awards.
Two of last year's winners - Keith Lemon and Jeremy Kyle - repeated the feat this year, winning Best Entertainment Show and Best Daytime Show respectively for the second year running.
Britain's Got Talent picked up the gong for Best Talent Show beating The X Factor, while I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! was named Best Reality Show.
EastEnders dominated the soap awards with Shane Richie, who plays Alfie Moon, named Best Soap Actor, Tony Discipline winning the Best Newcomer gong for his role as Tyler Moon and the show as a whole was named Best Soap.
Only Coronation Street's Michelle Keegan, who plays Tina McIntyre, prevented them getting a clean sweep by being named Best Soap Actress.
There was also an Outstanding Contribution award for the cast and crew of Emmerdale in the year the soap celebrates its 30th anniversary.
