Sharon leaves Shirley seething

EastEnders' Shirley Carter is set to feel threatened by Sharon Watts' return, Linda Henry has revealed.

The 49-year-old actress, who plays cafe owner Shirley, admitted that the highly anticipated arrival of the Albert Square favourite (portrayed by Letitia Dean) will rile her alter-ego up, especially after Sharon turns to ex Phil Mitchell for help.

"Shirley does trust Phil, but she knows how much history he has with Sharon. She's worried that old spark will reunite," she told All About Soap.

Shirley's fury continues when Sharon crashes Phil and Shirley's engagement party, and Phil decides to try to help his former flame.

"Shirley and Sharon are complete opposites, so I think she finds it hard to believe Phil would choose her over Sharon, when she knows how he used to feel about his ex."

Sharon makes her blazing comeback in Walford on the BBC soap from August 13, after more than a six-year absence.

EastEnders will air seven episodes in the week beginning August 13.
