The Vampire Diaries' scheming Katherine Pierce could be set for a modern romance with past love Elijah Mikaelson .
Nina Dobrev's villainous vampire character in the hit show is rumoured to be meeting up with Elijah in the present to rekindle their centuries-old romance, according to Zap2It.com.
It has been reported that scenes for a busy New York street and a music festival have been built on the Atlanta set where The Vampire Diaries is filmed, and one is thought to be the location for Katherine and Elijah to hook up.
Daniel Gillies, who plays Elijah, is now signed up to star in the 18th century spin-off show The Originals, but was it recently reported that he would be returning to The Vampire Diaries for some episodes in season four.
Meanwhile, Nina - who also plays Elena Gilbert on the show - and her co-star boyfriend Ian Somerhalder both spent Valentine's Day filming.
Nina tweeted: "On set, filming all Day. Doesn't matter that its Valentines day... Still gotta work."
