Pete Waterman voices his TV views

Pete Waterman has revealed that he doesn't rate The Voice.

The Hit Factory pop producer and songwriter, who appeared as a judge on two seasons of Pop Idol and Popstars: The Rivals, admitted that he "doesn't get" the BBC talent show.

"I don't get The Voice. I saw it in America two series ago and I didn't get it then, and I certainly didn't get it here, so I never understood why they bothered," he said.

Since his experience on talent shows, Pete has said that he will not appear on any similar programmes in the future, although he joked that he would be up for a role on a judging panel if TV bosses paid up.

"It'll cost them £4 million and I'll do it then. And they're not going to do that, are they?" he quipped.

Pete, who attended the UK's creative industries reception in London, revealed he was gobsmacked to see Jason Donovan as a judge on Superstar.

"To be honest, I saw it once and I thought he was quite nasty. I can't believe it - Jason gone nasty!" he said.

"He's not nasty at all, is he? It's like me being nice."
