Home And Away star Steve Peacocke has revealed he is such a gentleman in real life, he struggles to be such a tough guy in screen.

The 30-year-old actor plays River Boy Darryl 'Brax' Braxton, who is set to clash with Marilyn Chambers when she starts dating his villainous father Danny, but Steve hates yelling at women.

He said: "One of the directors came up to me and said 'Do you have a problem with yelling at women?'

"I was always brought up not to yell and not at women. My dad was very old fashioned, you know 'You do not raise your voice to a woman.'

"And it's now so ingrained that I feel bad. It's awful."

Steve added: "Even with Ray [Meagher who plays Alf Stewart], because he's someone I respect so much, I have to remind myself that it's acting. It's hard."
