Oaks' Shenton reaches new heights

Rachel Shenton has taken a break from filming Hollyoaks to scale London's BT Tower for charity.

The actress - who plays Mitzeee Minniver in the Channel 4 soap - climbed almost 850 steps up the London landmark to raise money for Action On Hearing Loss.

She tweeted afterwards: "A bit of swearing & sweat but I've done it :) amazing view, even better cause."

Rachel encountered deafness aged 12 when her father lost his hearing overnight, and the star has trained as a British Sign Language (BSI) interpreter.

She tweeted before the big climb: "Lovely Scene with @bronaghwaugh @peejaybrennan @kieronrichardso en route to London for a little work out...#rockythemetune on iPod."

Rachel's new co-star Nikki Sanderson, who plays Mitzeee's troublemaking sister Maxine, was among those who donated money to the cause.
