Neighbours star Ian Smith has been immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds in Sydney, Australia.

The 73-year-old actor - who starred as loveable cafe owner Harold Bishop for 22 years until 2009, and returned to Ramsay Street for a guest appearance last year - was delighted with his new double.

Ian joked: "I've told my wife Gail when I drop off the perch she can take this home."

The actor had to sit for the wax model making artists last year so 250 precise measurements could be taken, and another 800 hours were needed to sculpt an exact double of the soap star.

Ian's waxwork joins a host of replicas of other famous Australians such as Dame Edna Everage, Rolf Harris and former Neighbours co-stars Guy Pearce and Delta Goodrem.
