Billie Piper is making her National Theatre debut in a new play by Enron writer Lucy Prebble.

The former Doctor Who star will appear in The Effect at the theatre on London's South Bank from November.

Billie, who also appeared in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, has appeared on stage previously in the West End and at the Almeida Theatre in north London.

The play is described as "a clinical romance" which explores "questions of sanity, neurology and the limits of medicine".

The cast also includes Tom Goodman-Hill and Anastasia Hille.

Prebble, who worked with BIllie on Secret Diary of a Call Girl, enjoyed critical success with Enron about the collapse of the American energy firm.

The play, which is a co-production between the National and Headlong theatre company, will run until Saturday February 23.
