Former EastEnders star Louisa Lytton has said she wouldn't rule out returning to the soap some day.

The 23-year-old actress - who played Ruby Allen in the BBC One drama from 2005 to 2006 and went on to star in The Bill and compete on Strictly Come Dancing - is currently rehearsing for her first London stage role.

Asked if she would ever reprise her EastEnders part, as the daughter of gangster Johnny Allen, she said: "Not right now, because there is so much more that I want to do. But I would never say never. I loved my time there."

The BBC1 show is currently suffering from a drop in viewing figures, but Louisa said she hadn't spoken to any of her former colleagues about the issue.

She added: "I don't really know anyone that's left there. Like any soap, it has its ups and downs."

And Louisa said of her upcoming stage role, in the play A Broken Rose: "I'm quite nervous, because my friends are going to be able to come and see me. But it's time to show people what I can do."

The actress was speaking at The Prince's Trust Spring Ball held at The Hurlingham Club in Putney, south west London, which was taking place to raise funds for the charity.

Louisa was made an ambassador of the trust last year.
