Kym: Michelle fears for son Ryan

Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has revealed her character Michelle Connor does not want son Ryan to be a teen parent like she was.

The actress insisted barmaid Michelle is more worried about Ryan being a dad than about her becoming a grandmother, after Ryan's girlfriend Tracy Barlow revealed she is pregnant.

Kym said: "Michelle is horrified. She's worried about Ryan because she wants him to have a better life than she had. She was a teen when she had Ryan and would rather he didn't have a baby so young. Having said that, she'd feel much better if it wasn't Tracy Barlow who is the mother."

Michelle and boyfriend Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) struggle to cope when Ryan and Tracy, who is Steve's ex, move in with them. But Kym hopes Michelle and Steve can get through it.

Asked if she thought they would last together, she said: "That's a tricky one. And you never know what's going to happen in soapland. Steve and Michelle have been together before remember, and he cheated on her so it's hard to say, but it would be nice and I love working with Simon. Fingers crossed for them."
