Kirkbride opens up in special show

Coronation Street stalwart Anne Kirkbride is set to discuss her battles with cancer and depression in a new documentary.

Anne's 40 years as Weatherfield's Deirdre Barlow will be celebrated in ITV1 show Deirdre And Me next month, The Sun reports.

The soap favourite - who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1993 - will recall her health problems and her struggle with clinical depression.

She reportedly reveals that her depression hit in the wake of her famous Weatherfield One storyline in 1998.

Anne, 58, is quoted as saying: "It was at the tail end of all that when the depression hit. I'm too sensitive. Everything hits me too hard and affects me too much."

The one-hour Corrie special is set to be screened on November 13.
