Hordley: Atkins and I have fun

Emmerdale's Jeff Hordley has said working with co-star Emma Atkins is "a breeze".

The pair play warring cousins Cain Dingle and Charity Sharma, but Jeff said relations are much friendlier when the cameras stop rolling.

"We just get on with each other and we click and it's easy," he revealed at the British Soap Awards, where the pair were nominated for Best On-Screen Partnership.

"We spark off each other and it's a breeze to act with her."

Jeff insisted he was nothing like his villainous alter ego Cain - and revealed being on set was a bundle of laughs.

"We have fun before emotional scenes. We can be having a laugh and a joke, and as soon as you know that the director's about to do a take you get into it," he added.

"It literally is like flicking a switch."
