Emmerdale's Steve Halliwell has revealed he was almost blown off the rocks of the Yorkshire moors filming scenes for the soap.

Zak Dingle has been on the verge of a breakdown after attacking his own son Cain and is set to lie to his family and tell them he has cancer, rather than admit he is suffering from mental illness.

Steve told Inside Soap that Zak tries to escape his problems and goes AWOL on the moors.

He revealed: "Zak drives out into the wild countryside, but he gets confused. He gets progressively worse and thinks Cain is looking for him, trying to kill him.

"It gets very tense up high on the rocks. While we were filming, I had to wear a safety harness - because it was so windy, we nearly got blown away!"

The 58-year-old actor has played Zak for 18 years and he is usually a comedy character in the soap.

Steve said: "There's plenty more to come... After what Zak did to Cain he just can't live with himself."
