Franklin wants to be Idol judge

Aretha Franklin would like to be an American Idol judge
Aretha Franklin has offered her services as an American Idol judge following the departure of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.
The Queen of Soul is apparently a huge fan of the US singing show and told CNN in an email: "Yes, I am interested as a judge."
The 70-year-old Respect singer also revealed she would like to have fellow Grammy-winner Patti LaBelle beside her on the panel.
So far Idol bosses haven't commented on whether Aretha is likely to be offered a seat at the judging table.
The news comes after Aerosmith rocker Steven and singer and actress J-Lo announced they were saying goodbye to Idol after two seasons, leaving Randy Jackson as the sole judge.
It has been reported that Mariah Carey might fill one of the vacated seats.
The chart-topping singer - who was tipped for a slot on Simon Cowell's US X Factor before Britney Spears and Demi Lovato signed up - is said to be "in serious talks" about joining the panel.
A total shake-up might be on the cards as there have been reports that Randy, who is the only original judge remaining on Idol, might move from the panel to a mentoring role.
