Family Guy film possible, says star

Alex Borstein suggested a Family Guy film might be in the pipeline
Family Guy could be given the big-screen treatment.
Actress Alex Borstein, who voices the role of long-suffering wife Lois Griffin in the animated sitcom, which has been a huge hit in the US and attracted guests like Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds, said they wanted to make a film if they could find the time.
"It's something that (creator) Seth (MacFarlane) and everyone else wants to do, it's just a question of time," she said.
"It's not just (about) writing it and making it, because Seth is so picky about quality. He doesn't want to water down his product.
"We make 22 episodes a season and each show takes nine months (to make). It's a constant barrage of work and to throw the addition of a movie on there, we're not sure how we could find the time to keep the quality as high as we'd like."
Alex, who is also a writer-producer on the US version of Shameless, said Family Guy has been a success thanks to "perfect" timing.
"The US was so ready to laugh, and so in need of laughing at itself," she said.
"I think Seth just hit this perfect timing of creating something animated so that it could feel very other worldly, and yet have characters so real that people can relate.
"The speed with which the show delivers jokes is constant. No one is safe. We slam every political party, every gender, every sexual orientation, religion and I think people were just ready."
:: Family Guy double bill can be seen on Thursdays at 9pm on FX UK
