Angelos Epithemiou insists his chat show is the one "people have been waiting for".
The alter ego of comedian Renton Skinner will be interviewing celebrity guests on The Angelos Epithemiou Show on Channel 4.
"None of this lasts forever, my friend," he joked.
Speaking in character, he went on: "It will come to an end. So you have to do the important stuff when the chance arrives. This is the show people have been waiting for, even if they didn't know it and might not realise it until long after it's finished."
The star won a legion of fans as score-keeper on Shooting Stars.
He joked: "I can't carry Vic and Bob forever. Shooting Stars has had its day and those two chancers, the boys from the lucky club, are moving aside. I'm moving up. I'm keeping it real."
