Emmerdale is marking its 40th anniversary with a music festival.

A full stage with working lighting rig was built on Emmerdale Farm for the Home Fields Festival, which was planned by siblings Declan and Megan Macey (Jason Merrells and Gaynor Faye), and features performances by Scouting For Girls and The Proclaimers.

VIP and backstage areas, food outlets and toilet blocks were also built on set, with hundreds of extras dressed as revellers.

Roy Stride, lead singer of Scouting For Girls, said: "Having played the Woolpack in 2010 we felt the next step as Emmerdale fans was to appear in the show... and finally now our dreams have come true."

The episode will be screened in October and will kick off the soap's birthday celebrations, which also include one live episode, two weddings and the birth of two babies.
