EastEnders' Foreman's gangster past

Jamie Foreman plays Derek Branning in EastEnders
EastEnders star Jamie Foreman has claimed his character Derek Branning is worse than any gangster he's ever known.
The 53-year-old actor has published an autobiography revealing his real-life gangster past, growing up knowing the notorious Kray twins and the Great Train Robber Buster Edwards. But he told the Daily Mirror that Albert Square bad boy Derek is nastier than any of the people he has encountered.
Jamie said: "Derek is the man 10 million viewers love to hate, and I'm thrilled at the impact he's made.
"But Derek is so nasty he even makes me cringe. And, trust me, I've met some really nasty b******s in my time."
The Layer Cake star - who joined the soap last year as Max's older brother - said he wrote his book, Gangsters, Guns And Me, "to explain what it was like to be born into that world and to grow up around these characters - the real people, the strong men and women, not the gangster caricatures".
And Jamie is planning to make his own film, about what the Kray twins were really like.
He said: "When I leave EastEnders I'm hoping to produce and direct my own film about the world - and plan to play both the Kray twins myself."
He portrays a cartoon gangster in Eastenders . Most real villains don't carry -on like his character . Even the Kray"s had another side to them , they did run successful businesses including nightclubs , most of the public at large wouldn't have known the real twins .
As a prison visitor a few years ago I met two local villains , who had committed nasty murders . One got life & did 15 years , they kept turning him down for parole because of his activities inside , but to meet him you were seeing a man who didn't drink , never swore & had high family values and treated strangers with respect . The other guy was middle-aged , looked like a bank manager & spoke with a soft voice , and besides his other activities they found his wife's dismembered head in the concrete coping stone atop his gatepost fronting his large family home . Actually Jamie Forman isn't as bad as expected , but his only crime so -far is over acting ! .
Looks to me like he's trying to make himself look more 'dangerous' by association. He was 9 years old when his father and the Krays were arrested, so I doubt he was taken on too many bank jobs!
I reckon he's realised that his dad being a low life criminal and that the Krays may have visited his house occasionally (probably long after he was tucked up in bed) meant he could have a little reflected glamour, that's if you consider psychopaths and criminal scum glamorous!
Anything he knows about the Krays he must have heard from his father at visiting time, no doubt embellished to try to present them in as other than what they were, murderous thugs.
