Actress Barbara Windsor has brought a little East End cheer to a west London Diamond Jubilee street party.

She joined more than 100 revellers in Ealing for a Big Jubilee Lunch with a royal and 1950s fancy dress theme.

Accompanied by a live band, Babs led neighbours from Julien, York and Wellington Roads in a rousing version of the song Maybe It's Because I'm A Londoner.

Speaking afterwards, she said it took her back to the day of the Queen's Coronation, when the actress was 15 years old.

"Today took me back years in my life - all that red, white and blue. It was marvellous. I was 15 when the Queen came to the throne and I remember it vividly. Today felt just like that, it took me back and my heart skipped a beat.

"East Enders have always loved the Royal Family. We remember when the Queen Mother and King George came to the East End after we were bombed out during the war and we love them for that. We are very patriotic and we loved our new Queen too.

"Who thought we would have a Queen of 25? But she has been a wonderful Queen. She always knows exactly what is going on and she has not been frozen in time."
