Dales' Tom: I love being cruel

Emmerdale star Tom Lister has confessed he loves it when his character Carl King is being mean.

But the soap star also revealed the reason Carl is set to be so cruel to ex-girlfriend Chastity Dingle is because deep down he really loves her.

Tom said: "I love it when Carl is being like this, he's being cruel and he's being vindictive and he's blackmailing her. But I think at the heart of it all he's doing it because he's bonkers about this woman, who he can't live with, and he can't live without."

Carl is about to discover that Chas - who has just got engaged to nice guy Dan - is having an affair with her pregnant niece Debbie's boyfriend Cameron Power. When his suspicions are confirmed he steals her phone and threatens to expose her affair.

Chas dumped Carl in 2010 after she learned he had cheated on her, but Tom revealed Carl could be ready to fight Cameron for her.

He said: "Will it be a test of who Chas loves most - is it Carl, is it Cameron? And what will happen when those two finally lock horns and have a battle! Wait and see."
