Craig Charles has revealed that the friendship between Corrie's Lloyd Mullaney and Steve McDonald is set to go through a rocky patch - after Lloyd starts up a rival taxi company.

The actor's alter-ego Lloyd, who returns to the famous cobbles on July 2, decides to become a competitor after Steve (Simon Gregson) offers him a job at Streetcars, but not as a partner.

"He thinks that Steve has invited him back to Streetcars as a partner, but basically he's only offering Lloyd a job. So Lloyd decides to set up a rival cab firm called Fare Ladies... which is solely operated by lady cab drivers," he told the soap's official website.

Lloyd's new business soon suffers setbacks, when Tracy (Kate Ford) joins him as an employee.

"Tracy turns up asking for a job saying she hates Steve and that together they can grind him into the dirt, so he gives her a job working the switchboard," he explained.

"But she sends cabs to the wrong addresses, phones up Steve and lets Streetcars nick punters and then to cap it off, she pours sugar into three of Lloyd's cabs' petrol tanks which means they are completely wrecked and it is going to cost thousands of pounds to repair them."

Lloyd suspects Steve to be behind the sabotage and confronts him.

Craig added that it's not the final straw for their friendship, saying: "It's not the end really, no, it's just the beginning really."
