BGT hopefuls to audition on YouTube
Michael McIntyre is a judge on this year's Britain's Got Talent
Britain's Got Talent (BGT) is to give wannabes the chance to audition through video-sharing site YouTube for the first time.
Producers will choose 20 acts from online submissions who will then go in front of show judges Michael McIntyre, Amanda Holden and David Hasselhoff.
The winner will as ever perform at this year's Royal Variety Performance, which will be attended by the Queen.
BGT judges will still have to be impressed by the hopefuls before making it through to the TV show.
A final 50 of the most outstanding acts will be available to view at itv.com/talent and on a dedicated YouTube channel. And from this collection, the 20 will be chosen.
Performers of all ages with any talent can apply until March 24 at youtube.com/britainsgottalent.
John Kaye Cooper, ITV's controller of entertainment said: "Britain's Got Talent launches another first as it opens its online auditions and adds an exciting new dimension to the show in our search for the best of British talent."
Last year's competition was won by acrobatic troupe Spelbound, while 2009 runner-up Susan Boyle has gone on to become one of the biggest stars in the world.
