E20 star worked out for calendar
Sam Attwater wanted to be in the Hollyoaks calendar
Sam Attwater has revealed he was crushed when his stint on Hollyoaks ended - because he wanted to be in the soap's calendar.
The actor - who stars in EastEnders' new online spin-off E20 - appeared in five episodes of the series and made sure he was in tip-top shape so he could flaunt his muscles in the calendar.
"Originally I really wanted it to be extended - that's why I got into shape originally, I thought, if I'm going to be in, I want to be in the calendar," he said.
But Sam's work-outs won't go to waste as he's now been cast as boxer Leon Small in E20, and he said he's now pleased his Hollyoaks role wasn't extended "cos otherwise I wouldn't be here".
Asked if he felt under pressure to be in good shape for the part, he said: "Yeah. Only because there's quite a lot of topless scenes. Semi nudity. All from Leon.
"As soon as I heard that I was straight down the gym. Lots of crunches. Everyone said don't worry about it, but every time I did one of those scenes I had to watch it back and see how it looked because there will be 10 million people watching it. I want to be on the best form."
:: EastEnders: E20 goes live on bbc.co.uk/eastenders on Friday at 8.30pm.
