Alexander: Snogging scenes were fun

Sarah Alexander has admitted filming kissing scenes with co-star Robert Sheehan for new show Me And Mrs Jones was "overwhelming", but enjoyable.

The Coupling star had the tricky role of playing a single mother who receives the attentions of her son's best friend Billy, played by 24-year-old Misfits star Robert.

Sarah confessed: "When I was performing I found it quite overwhelming that this beautiful young man would fall in love with my character and I found it quite emotional...but yes I did enjoy snogging him."

The 41-year-old actress also explained that her character is no cougar, but finds herself the subject of unwelcome advances from her toyboy lover.

She said: "My character isn't remotely predatory or looking for it in anyway, it's quite the opposite, she sort of fending it off, doesn't want it, she can't cope."

Robert has previously worked with Sarah's husband Peter Serafinowicz and she revealed, "I think there was an unspoken gentlemen's handshake between Robert and Peter, you know 'It's okay to snog my wife.'"

Sarah added: "Robert's so cool he probably didn't even think about it."

The comedy Me And Mrs Jones starts this Friday, October 12 on BBC One at 9.30pm.
