If there is a granddaddy of dating shows in the UK, Cilla Black's Blind Date - which ran for an incredible 18 years, ending in 2003 - is it. Contestants would choose their favourite after asking three hopefuls hidden behind a screen questions. Cilla would then whisk them off on holiday and the audience would see how it turned out the following week. Blind Date was an absolute hoot when the couple in question didn't get on. Having said that, there were successes; quite a few couples ended up walking up the aisle. By the way, that is Duncan James from Blue. The band appeared on the show as part of a special celebrity edition.
