Twitter storm over Sex, Lies and Rinsing Guys

Channel 4
Sex, Lies and Rinsing Guys' Danica Thrall, Jeanette Worthington, and Hollie Capper
Channel 4 has done it again. The broadcaster is becoming renowned for provocatively-titled shows and last night's Sex, Lies and Rinsing Guys is the latest in a long line.
Exploring what the programme termed "the new phenomenon of rinsing", we were introduced to Liverpudlian Jeanette Worthington, Derbyshire lass Danica Thrall, and Nottingham's Hollie Capper.
These ladies use their looks and charms to obtain money and gifts from men. However, they are adamant that bedroom antics are not part of the equation; no sex please, they're rinsers.
I'm not convinced this is all particularly new (blokes have been "rinsed" for centuries), but it obviously suits the agenda of the programme. In addition, the title is slightly deceptive; there's no gettin' jiggy (the girls say) and there were no lies - all three were pretty upfront about what they do.
However, there was an abundance of "rinsing". Alongside scenes of copious primping and preening, viewers were treated to suitably jaw-dropping segments.
We saw Danica in a department store compiling a wish-list of items for her latest sucker to buy (including Jimmy Choo shoes). Then there was Jeanette's "rinsing" trip to New York; it went a little sour when the poor sap concerned wanted something from her (guess what?). Finally, it was time for Hollie, who sells her "rinsed" items on ebay with the support of her mother.
As expected, the programme caused a storm on social networking sites. On Twitter, the girls were slated by thousands. This is just a selection of the comments.
@deanadam93: #rinsingguys How's about you rinse yourself in a shower you benefit leeching little scruffs
@andyffgibbons: These girls' mums must be so proud of them. #sexliesandrinsingguys
@thisisraffles: #rinsingguys these women are vile, fake, materialistic and manipulating.
@AmyLouiseGreenx: #RinsingGuys urrgghhh get a job and learn a bit of self respect
@KatyMoore1: "We don't sleep with them". Oh yeah, they give you a Cartier watch for sharing a salad. Please. #rinsingguys
@emmalouisekent: That's it girls- this is what we've fought for for centuries. Scarves from rich/ pervy men. *facepalm* #rinsingguys#
However, there were a few posters taking a more philosophical line:
@nige977: Can't really blame these girls really, if there are guys out there that will let it happen then it's their own fault!! #rinsingguys
@JustinMacartney: #risingguys I don't know what's sadder the girls or the guys who buy them the stuff.
@NickACollinson: This Sex Lies and Rinsing guys is Strange, these guys deserve to be rinsed #rinsingguys
To my mind, it's not exactly clever to go on television and boast about taking guys for what you can get. Surely it's better to keep questionable motives on the downlow? Following the transmission of Sex, Lies and Rinsing Guys, they'll be lucky if a bloke buys them a sausage roll from Greggs.
