Dancing on Ice will be axed after the 2014 series, and here we look at where the reality show floundered.
The Only Way Is Essex preview
The Only Way Is Essex is back for its fifth series. The colourful cast once again welcome viewers to their glamorous Essex circle so expect to see chatter in nail bars, nightclubs, gyms and tanning salons.
The last series saw the arrival of Ricky, Tom and Bobby; Ricky quickly made his presence known. Joey's best mate Diags joined the cast, Lydia and Arg split up, Debbie did a skydive and Gemma's run of bad luck with men seemed to end with the arrival of Charlie. Read on for more TOWIE spoilers...

Feel sorry for the 'normal' population of Essex being tarred with the same brush as these airheads!
Wow!! Well said John Temperton (fishslice), I'd urge anyone looking in to read what he's written in full. They call this 'reality tv', well for a start, what could be further removed from 'real life' than to be followed about having your thoughts recorded and actions filmed by a bloody tv crew?!! These folk want celebrity status without having to provide any input, just as in so many of these programmes. I fear that by appearing on this they might well be viewed as 'dim' and naive, even if they aren't really.
I tend to think of ITV2 as the Frankenstein channel, they keep monstrosities alive, Katie Price, Jedward, Kerry Katona.....the list goes on.
If I'm remembered for anything, I'd like it to be something of substance, such as my writings, I'd HATE to be remembered as some guy who appeared on "that programme, you know the one...where they all mess about and....oh...what's their names again?...ok...what S*** is on the telly just now luv?"
I agree with John Temperton, this, along with "Made In Chelsea", "Liverpool Whatever" are the present days tv norm in behaviour, fame at any price. It used to be 15 minutes of fame, now we seem to be expected to endure hours worth of the scripted lives of total non-entities, who for some reason the tv companies seem to think worth promoting as "real programmes about real people". I presume that the only reason they do this is that it is cheaper then paying writers to produce decent entertainment.
All of these people are venial, talentless and so preposterous to be laughable, unfortunately many people who watch this tripe seem to think that it's real, all I can say is Lord help us, because our society, standards of behaviour are disintegrating and it is programmes like this that accelerate the decay.
Charlotte Rowe There not chavs and i would love to live in Essex with them. They are amazing and have brains since most of them have successful businesses and make loads of money! I can't wait too see the next series woooo! GO ESSEX!
no not 'chavs' as you put it, but they are the media's representation of 'reality television.'
Their interests revolve around the seven deadly sins of 'pride, avarice, envy, wrath, lust, gluttony, and sloth' attributes they encourage us the viewer to admire. Why? Money.
We're becoming a nation of 'wanna be's' who shop for pleasure enforcing a culture of want, rather than need. This is an amoral culture that cares nothing for anything other than money itself.
We have a lifestyle and consumer media, of which MSN is a part that reinforces these values and is changing culture and society in a deeply troubling way. TOWIE truly represent the worst human beings in the world, and have become a beacon of un-heroic heroes, living vapid lives that will leave nothing behind for future generations.
Don't be confused by this, they are not something to aspire too, there is no talent here for anything other than thriving in a wholly material existence.
Success, as defined by our culture and conveyed through reality TV--wealth and fame, most notably--is so revered, yet, in the reality in which most of us live, so utterly unattainable. We get the message from reality TV that we must become successful at any cost, even if success can be achieved only by dishonesty and subterfuge. The unfortunate results of these messages can be found throughout our culture. We see increased cheating in schools, the use of performance-enhancing drugs in sports, and criminal behaviour in our youth and, among our adult population, lying on resumes, frivolous law suits, and corporate greed and goverment.
Anything to become a success! Reality TV obviously doesn't cause such behaviour, rather that it is just another symptom of the decline of values that used to limit this behaviour. And reality TV is now an omnipresent conduit through which these truly atrocious messages are communicated to us all . And if you think these message are fundamentally benign, think again. The more people are exposed to any message, even terrible ones, the more likely they will be accepted as the norm. There is no 'off' button' outside your front door and the wider community in which you live.
If you feel I'm being a little extreme than I'd ask you at least to question whether you may have become accustomed to life being this way, and would urge you to stop and think about the consequences of this form of entertainment.
In a generation we have gone from fully accepting that certain types of behaviour are wrong too simply accepting it as part of the norm, in fact worse it is reinforced by modern popular television and media culture.
Ultimately it is our children that will deal with the consequences of this distorted moral view of life, Ask yourself are these the sort of people and values you wish them too see as something to aspire too? Is this the only way we can prosper?
The Only Way Is Essex is amazing! I don't understand why people think of them as scum or chavs? They live in a different town to you, they have their accent and their culture like you have yours, the show is shown to show the reality of life. I don't care what people say and my Auntie's boyfriend's sister is the Executive Producer of TOWIE so don't try to argue back because I know the truth behind the show unlike you lot who have nothing better to do than comment rubbish. Grow up and get a life, fair enough if you don't like it but that doesn't mean you need to comment.
I'm 14 and I love this show, and I am perfectly grammatically correct, not everyone is scum, so stop being stuck up idiots and get over yourselves.
i`d get in bed with you anytinme lauren ![]()
