We don't know about you, but we feel that our next appointment with television's most charismatic doctor has been long-overdue - we simply can't wait for series seven of Doctor Who to it our screens.

And, the BBC have just made our impatience worse by releasing the above teaser picture of the cast reunited on the set of the show - they all look like they're having a great time!

Series seven will see Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill reprising their roles as Amy Pond and Rory Williams. But, sadly this series will be Karen and Arthur's last, as they are set to leave the show - how will the Doctor (Matt Smith) cope with Amy and Rory's heartbreaking departure? And, more importantly, who will replace them?

On returning for his third series as the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith told the BBC: "It's thrilling and exciting to be back and working with two of my closest friends."

Karen Gillan, who recently appeared in the BBC drama We'll Take Manhattan added: "It's just brilliant to be back on the TARDIS with Matt and Arthur for our craziest adventures yet."

Confirmed series seven guest stars include David Bradley, who played Argus Filch in the Harry Potter movies and Rupert Graves, who starred as DI Lestrade in BBC's Sherlock.

The BBC have also teased that the Doctor will meet a 'new friend', we can't wait to see who it is! What's more, as the series covers the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, we're expecting huge surprises and explosive drama...

Loving Matt Smith, and does anyone think the person who plays Morgonna in Merlin when she was a guest in doctor who her character should also come to this show to be an assistant?
