Voted for by the public and hosted by Dermot O'Leary, the glittering ceremony that is the National TV Awards took place at London's O2 arena. Find out who came away with the statuettes in this gallery.

Everyone who is anyone in television was there to see Coronation Street emerge a key winner, Kermit the Frog, and X Factor beat Strictly. Judge Tulisa Contostavlos, in a dazzling pink dress, could barely contain her delight.

And so Coronation Street nabbed Best Serial Drama, beating - among others - its fierce rival EastEnders. Accepting the award, Sally Dynevor, who plays Sally Webster, dedicated it to the late Betty Driver, who played barmaid Betty Williams until her death at the age of 91 last year.

So the best series of Strictly Come Dancing still loses out to the worst series of The X Factor?!

Absolutely pathetic!! Sick of Little Mix already, they could've at least sung a different song.

I have to say Bruce's duet with Ant and Dec was cringeworthy!

Congratulations to Corrie and Katherine Kelly. Well deserved wins.

OK JR, people do have lives.  I for one don't give Tulisa money, mags, or record money.    Who cares who is by a pool in Greece, it matters not for empathy to her or anyone.  You don't give understanding to receive.  If you understand or empathise with a problem, doesn't make the reasoning of you poor old thing.  It just gives a greater understanding of problems people face in the world, by their own effort or by accident.  I don't care if she never thinks of coachbelle, it matters not.  And mugs are great for drinking out of, get more than a cup.

wondered if this would happen- corri winning for 1st time!   storylines and acting have been v good and the little comedy cameos in between. and this happening at a time when eastenders has been getting boring. Those moon boys and eddie - boring boring boring.

Well, hosted by Dermot o'DREARY, awards to Tulisa and Ross, what a pointless waste of time. Only good bit was Carol V's dress XXXX

Oh and the story doesn't have to be celebrity, it can be Fred Bloggs down the road.

Yes, Tulisa's story brough tears to my eyes, especially when I saw the little angel picture.  When I make a comment here I read remarks about getting a life - but I have a life and that involves feeling empathy with a story and telling that person so.  Hope Tulisa will read.

Out of curiosity, I just read Tulisa's life story to see if I was right.

Poor thing. And for once, I can really relate to the story, but that's a discussion for another thread. She has my respect for getting through it, anyway.

Well done and best of luck, Tulisa!

Thank goodness Coronation Street won through, apart from the devil child storyline it beats Eastenders that is continually dark and grim.

What a total waste of time, all the programmes are aimed at the low end of the market and MSN really needs to sort itself out, obviously like the tv stations can't be bothered to provide something worthwhile.

I'm still stuck on "dazzling pink dress". It looks like it's made of coloured tracing paper. Ah that's a bit harsh. I kind of like her. I don't know anything about her, but she reminds me of the the girl next door who has finally stumbled into stardom. She looks so chuffed, bless her.

Dr Who stars and Outnumbered apart,
this is what happens when you give the lumpen proletariat a vote. They vote for all the dross. Downton Abbey is moving wallpaper for nostalgia freaks.
This has been a great year for Drama but none of it appeared in the National Mediocre Media Awards.

i also think it was a bad show.  Emmerdale was, by far, the best soap this past year.  They never seem to get anything.  It's been the best story lines and best acting all year through.  I also think

Chelsea Halfpenny should have got an award for the part she has played in Emmerdale.

I also think Dancing on Ice was the best.  This years line-up is showing to be the best series as well.
