They say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery so we should be pretty pleased that the US has adopted one of the nation's favourite comedies: The Inbetweeners.
MTV, who will be airing the US version of the show, has released this first ever snap of the US cast and we're intrigued. They look like innocent lads to us - will they be able to portray the hilarious filth the British cast got away with so effortlessly? We hope so!

the inbetweeners worked in the UK as it's British Comedy/humour at it's best, if the american's try and copy that... it will not work. The Office USA is rubbish because they just cant replicate the humour

They just can't help themselves can they? Why can't they just leave our shows alone? They need to face it, our comedies are far better than theirs, doesn't mean they get to try and copy it!

The Inbetweeners USA no hope??? The yanks have not got our British sence of humour,it wont work,the USA like pretty people to play a certian part,they dont look right????? Inbetweeners in Britain works good... WE ALL know someone who is like,Jay,Simon,neil,will.In the USA i think they look to erm errrr FAKE

maybe it'll work or maybe it won't, i suppose it depends on how it's written. if they blatantly copy our scripts then it won't work at all, as americans use different words and phrases to us. it also needs to be 'life like', the uk inbetweeners was genius, and portrayed british teenagers perfectly. the way the group behaved, the things they said and did were exactly how teenagers were 15 years ago at least. my husband has always said that the group of lads were an exact replica of him and his mates at school. they had 'jay' the bullsh!tter, a posh kid, 'neil' the joker and all round daft guy and 'simon' the chicken who needed persuading into doing daft things. loved the inbetweeners but i think they need to stop now before it gets too boring, the film was ok in some parts but was nothing like the channel 4 programmes.

Is nothing sacred!! stop copying our tv shows!! we have a totally different sense of humour to you lot, we have a good sense of humour! we haven't tried to copy 'friends', and we let 'everybody loves raymond' and 'frazier' lie in peace. show us the same courtesy.

Casting is the most important thing for any programme or film.
Think of any film or TV series that you love, and you can bet that that everyone in it has worked perfectly - The Inbetweeners being a prime example. I could not imagine anyone in it who could have been replaced by someone "better".
That's why we'll hate this remake - the actors (however talented) will be seen as fakes of the REAL thing.

Skins. Shameless. IT Crowd. And now Inbetweeners... how many times do the yanks have to ruin a British show by using the exact same script? And sometimes even the same actors and costume department!
And by the by, US Neil looks more suited to be Jay and US Jay looks more suited to be Neil going by picture number 1.

On the same topic of American copies of our stuff - has anyone seen Prime Suspect USA?
Nothing wrong with it as such (typical US cop show) but it has only one connection with our Prime Suspect - and that is the star's character is called Jane (they even changed the surname from Tennison).
Good luck to Lynda La Plant for earning from this show - but I cannot see any relationship to our version.

If anything, the American office is better. I know it doesn't work in America for most series, if anything therre attempts at adapting what are now considered to be traditional british comedies show it, like their attempts at Fawlty towers.
It wil work if they base it upon what American teenagers are like, and actually not worry about trying to stay true to the original.
