A nerdquake is rippling across the planet and sending measuring devices haywire at the news Mark Gatiss is joining the cast of Game of Thrones for season four.

With his appointment to the cast, Gatiss has unified the in-fighting between geek kingdoms and brought harmony to the tribes of Sherlock, Doctor Who, and Game of Thrones.

As yet there's no word on which character he'll play, but when you consider his career features a range of grotesques in The League of Gentlemen, Sherlock's smarter brother in Sherlock (which he co-created), a villain in Doctor Who (for which he's also written several episodes), and his series on horror films (A History of Horror), he could end up playing anything. Although a dragon is unlikely.
