The 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, TV's equivalent of the Oscars, saw Channel 4 import Homeland triumph over the likes of Sky Atlantic's Mad Men and ITV1's Downton Abbey.
Claire Danes and Damian Lewis, the show's stars, were also honoured during the ceremony which - on the whole - produced few surprises. Just about all the favourites won; find out who took home the top prize in our gallery.

this series has been exciting and compelling. it speaks of the modern world. as for a lot of toffee-nosed stuffed shirts who look down on the likes of you and me & whose sole interest is the lives of their servants - does anybody really give a damn?

The Yanks always favour their programs. If it was UK awards we would favour Yanks as well to keep them happy. SAD
Thought first series was OK. But did not warrant a second one. Just like The Killing could have been finished in one. But greed takes over and studios realise they can make even more out of the tv companies by dragging it out

It was a great show but my abiding memory of it will be that every other word in the script was "f*ck". None of which added to the story or drama of the piece. Why is this aural assault of profanity necessary. It is becoming endemic in American and UK TV .. It is lazy and purile ..

I watched the first series of Homeland and it was captivating but not long after it finished Sky Arts put on the series that this is based on by Gideon Raff. It's an Israeli (sub-titled) production called 'Prisoners of War,' and it's interesting to see the way the two programmes diverge. There are similarities, of course but the Israeli version is more sinister, I think! Worth having a look at if you're able.

I enjoyed Homeland. Never even thought of watching Downtown Abbey, supposedly an upmarket historical Coronation Street/Eastenders. Hardly World entertainment.
