David Attenborough's new BBC series Africa received an amazing reception when the first episode was broadcast.

Twitter erupted with compliments for the television veteran and reviews also raved about Attenborough's latest adventure.

@JonDonnison tweeted: "If you're able to & you've not watched the new BBC series AFRICA, do! Brilliant. Worth licence fee by itself."

‏@friend_scott noted: "Some of the shots they capture in Africa really are incredible! Hats off to you BBC and David Attenborough. Awesome television!"

@olly_richards said: "Just shut up and take my licence fee, BBC. I've got my money's worth. #Africa"

The New York Times also agreed that the show was brilliant - they wrote in their review: "People eat this stuff up and a sceptic can find himself riveted by the best of it."

The second episode explores East Africa and shows creatures including this shoebill stork chick, which was filmed in the nest for the very first time in television history. Looks like we're in for another treat!
