It's been 20 years since our favourite six TV characters first graced our screens. We relive the magic with fab trivia.
16 Kids and Counting
The country's largest family under one roof are the Radfords; they have 16 kids. That is not a typo, by the way. They are parents to 16 kids. Little wonder Channel 4 came calling.
It's not too difficult to see why producers felt this would be an eye-popping subject for a television programme.
In this opening episode, the Radfords have decided to get 11 of their brood christened. But with money tight, christening outfits and a cake stretch the budget.
But it's not just about the Radfords. In Rotherham, there's never a dull moment with the Salim family.
Mohammed and Noreen Salim have 11 kids and their house is always busy. They decide to have a big party for their Eid celebrations.
16 Kids and Counting, which airs on Tuesday 5 March at 9pm, is yet another so-called, 'shock-doc' (shock documentary). We explore more programmes in this genre including Sex, Lies & Rinsing Guys and The Twins Who Share A Body.
The thing is, do you think that was the point of these "shockumentaries" was to help build tolerance of people who are different, or do you think the point was to let the general masses have a gawk and a laugh at people?
Considering that the titles are all meant to increase shock value? Many of the subjects of these need professional help, not ridicule. As for the half tonne son, the mother should have been arrested for child abuse.
Channel 4 especially. A channel run by pathological attention seekers, imo.
Of course this family is on welfare benefit. Get real. In order to support a large family like this you would require an annual wage of around 150k - 200k, and also think how much tax you would pay on this amount of money. This man and woman certainly do not look like they earn this sort of money and where do you think they even find the time to go to work.
I'm not saying that they shouldn't have children, but get a life, please......... and stop somewhere, this amount is just ridiculous.
They've already got more than whats required to have a football team!!!
Apart from the obvious financial difficulties, personally I feel it is incredibly selfish on the children you have to annually have another child. How on earth can the parents spend quality time with each child when there are 16 of them. The older kids are push on too quickly and become mini mums and dads to the younger ones and that not fair. Certainly not how I'd have liked my childhood.....but maybe they are all perfectly happy!
