Chico Slimani rates the X Factor finalists
Chico Slimani was a bundle of laughs throughout the second series of X Factor. What's more, he was the first person to write a song especially for the show.
The suitably ironic It's Chico Time was written after his famous catchphrase (Chico: "What time is it?", audience: "It's Chico time!"); it knocked Madonna off the top spot. Yes, you read that right.
If anyone's best-placed to judge the X Factor finalists, it's someone that's been through it. Speaking about the furore over Rylan Clark (saved in the sing-off at the expense of Carolynne Poole), Chico tells MSN: "I think Louis's decision was correct. After all, Rylan got the public vote and unlike the past years with Jedward and Wagner, he can actually sing."
In this gallery, Chico passes an eye over all the performances. Find out what he thought of the class of 2012 as they performed on their first live show and follow him on Twitter at @chicotime1 for more X Factor opinion.

Rylan ClarkRylan embodies The X factor; you can't put your finger on it, but when he comes on stage you can't take your eyes off him. But please lose the OTT and stay Armani. It's Rylan time!topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

James ArthurThe real deal; raw and sings from a place of truth. Please don't let them water you down, James. You're a star!topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Jahmene DouglasOh my, oh my!!!! One of my favourite songs ever. So great to see him overcome his nerves and be back to his best. Just amazing.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Lucy SpragganIncredible talent. I love her originality. No matter what happens, she's going to have a number one album. Go on girl!!!!topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Jade EllisThere's something special about this girl. Love her tone and honesty, but I just want to see her stretch her vocal range by singing higher. The new Gabrielle. topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Ella HendersonSuperstar!!! Oh my God, 16!!!!! This is a God-given talent that cannot be denied. My favourite Of the night. My goose bump-ometer was off the Richter scale. topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Kye SonesIt's crazy when people pick an iconic song like MJ's as their first song. He was all over the place in the beginning, but rescued it in the second half. Very talented; let's see you at your best next week, Kye. topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Carolynne PooleBeautiful girl, amazing voice. But again, completely the wrong song which was an unnecessary risk to take so early and she paid for it.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Christopher MaloneyAs a wild card, he needed to be on fire. Unfortunately, whether it was his nerves or the song, he sounded ordinary when he needed to be extraordinary. We know it's something he can be.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Melanie MassonIncredible range; great to see her bring her stage experience to light. A much needed change to the X Factor.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

District 3Great harmonies, but the song was too big for them, which didn't do them justice.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

Union JThese guys are real contenders. However, completely the wrong song and Louis needs to get with the programme and get with the times. Terrible decision, but no reflection on the band. Lucky they weren't in the bottom two.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2

MK1Love their energy and swagger, but they need to watch the pitching. Relevant, hip and super cool.topThis field has been disabled for Gallery V2
