Sharon Rickman (still more famously known as Sharon Watts) makes her blazing comeback to Walford from 13 August. It's actress Letitia Dean's third return after more than a six-year absence.

To celebrate the iconic character's reappearance, the BBC hosted a swanky EastEnders party for the cast and members of the press.

I chatted to Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell) who revealed that Sharon's comeback is going to be dramatic: "It was a bit of a rollercoaster really," he told me. "One minute I'm up on the roof with Shirley, the next thing Sharon comes bursting through the doors and I'm sorting out her problems."

He added: "Then Shirley makes a discovery and their relationship starts to unravel. So yeah, it's a rollercoaster really."

Steve, who's worked closely with Letitia on and off since 1990, said he was happy share screen time with her again: "I hoped Letitia was looking forward to coming back, and that she was just how she was before she left. And that's exactly what I got. She was really happy to be back and it was just like the old days really."

Jo Joyner on working with Letitia for the first time

Jo Joyner, who plays Tanya Branning, also revealed what audiences can expect from Sharon's return: "We all remember Sharon - what a fantastic character. There's all that stuff coming up with Phil and her past and that's really exciting within itself. That's one hell of the week."

She also hinted about Heather Trott's murder storyline: "Everyone's going to get some kind of justice for Heather."

Jo told me that not everyone is happy with Sharon coming back to the Square: "Sharon's such a beautiful, iconic character and she puts everyone's heckles up. You can see Kat's not impressed and Tanya's not too sure. It's a powerful week and it's going to be interesting."

Jo also admitted that she didn't need to help Letitia settle back into the set: "She's been in Albert Square forever hasn't she?! I've never met Letitia before and I've only just started working with her, so I just assumed that she'd know far more than me about everything."

She added: "I was grateful to have another fantastic woman to work with. We've been doing quite a lot of stuff, so it's lovely. They start off a bit feisty, but they're going to get on quite well."

Jo also hinted at what may be in store for her character Tanya: "She makes a new friendship with Sharon and there's going to be more involving Cora. And, of course, Tanya is engaged so will there be a wedding?"

Jake Wood on Sharon's comeback

Jake Wood, who plays Max Branning, was also keen to talk about the upcoming Sharon storyline.

Like Jo, he also feels it's going to be dramatic: "Sharon is an iconic character, she's one of the greatest characters on the show in the last 27 years. Everyone's really excited about her coming back. She brings a weight of history back with her - a living history behind her. Letitia is a great actor and great to work with."

Like Tanya, Max also has some big storyline in the pipeline: "We got a very busy autumn and winter coming up, so there's lots of action for the Brannings. Max and Tanya are getting married and there's also Max's secret and Kat's lover is going to be revealed. So it's very busy and lots of explosive stuff coming up."

We can hardly wait! Sharon is set to return to Albert Square in the week commencing 13 August.
