ONE TO WATCH!

The hot favourite to win at this year's Eurovision Song Contest? Denmark's entry Emmelie De Forest, who inspired a huge outbreak of flag waving among the sizeable Danish contingent in the arena (Copenhagen is of course just a short drive over the Öresund Bridge from Malmö).

It’s no wonder the song is tipped to do well, and the barefoot 19-year-old’s performance felt more like a victory parade than a mere qualifier for the final. The crowd was covered in golden confetti when the song reached its climax, before a flourish of pyrotechnics burst onto the stage.

It was by far the most keenly-received song of the night (possibly thanks to all those Danes in the audience), and did seem to be a few levels ahead of the competition in terms of both songcraft and performance.

RESULT: QUALIFIED FOR FINAL
