The Good Wife: season three cameos

More4 import The Good Wife continues to be one of the most acclaimed series on TV. The third season, out now on DVD, contained some of the most gripping episodes of the run so far.

If you haven't seen this impressive US show, now is the time to start.

High-flying lawyer Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies of ER fame) negotiates the ongoing challenges of a demanding career and a tumultuous private life.

Alicia's complications include her growing children, her estranged husband (Sex and the City's Chris Noth), her spiteful mother-in-law, and a love interest in boss Will Gardener (Dead Poet's Society's Josh Charles), at law firm Lockhart Gardner.

But just when you thought it couldn't get more compelling, The Good Wife's third season stepped up a notch by including numerous impressive. Here's a snapshot of just three notable appearances.

Matthew Perry

He's my friend, he's your friend, he was in Friends, but now he's in The Good Wife. It doesn't happen until episode 19, but Matthew Perry's debut is worth the wait.

Matthew joins the drama as smooth, charming Chicago lawyer Mike Krestiva; he is heading up a panel in charge of digging through the dirt of a suspicious police shooting.

But it's not all smooth sailing as Alicia suspects some of the panel have questionable motives. The tension is high, the questions are difficult and Matthew Perry's performance was lauded by TV critics. Many hope he will return to the show.

Eddie Izzard

Eager viewers don't have to wait too long for a star cameo as the brilliant Eddie Izzard shows his face in the second episode of the third season.

When Alicia wins a verdict in a libel case involving a British businessman, she must quickly learn to navigate English Law when the case is retried in British court via satellite. Emmy Award winner Eddie Izzard guests as robust QC, James Thrush. As the anagram-loving toughie, Eddie Izzard had little difficulty stealing every scene.

Michael J Fox

Michael J Fox is no stranger to The Good Wife; his character Louis Canning is a regular thorn in Alicia's side. Canning's appearance in the final episode of the third season is no exception.

Playing up on his disease, as per usual, the manipulative Louis Canning joins forces with another regular baddie and the two work together to try and defeat the Lockhart Gardner team. This instalment sees them chase a moral win over a drug manufacturer whose acne cure caused irreversible infertility for Alicia's client.

Michael J Fox has won plaudit after plaudit as Louis Canning; watching his many interactions with Julianna Margulies is always a pleasure. Will he be back for season four? Let's hope so.
