Dallas became a global phenomenon during its original 1978 - 1991 run. The explosive bust-ups and huge cliff-hangers kept millions of viewers hooked each week.
The grand old soap has been rebooted; it has made a successful return to America's TNT cable network. Now airing on Channel 5 every Wednesday, we catch up with some of the cast from the classic series.
Dallas' ruthless, power-hungry, libidinous JR Ewing has been brilliantly played by Larry Hagman since 1978. He drove wife Sue Ellen to alcohol and his nemesis Cliff Barnes to a suicide attempt. But what charisma! Little wonder he became the first TV villain the entire world loved to hate.

Wow John Reynolds, did you get called JR when you were younger and this has caused your over the top hatred for the show? It's 1 hour of TV a week, you're acting like it's going to be taking over your life and ruining it and there's nothing you can do about it... just don't watch it. Simple. I for one am curious and will be watching. (PS it should be "doubt whether"...)

I loved it the first time round and I cant see no reason to love it the 2nd. Top quality stars like Hagman, Gray, Duffy, Kercheval etc are brilliant and the storylines before might have been a little weird sometimes but hey - it took you out of yourself and away and either made you laugh, cry. One thing about Dallas, whether you loved it or hated it, it definitely made a huge impression on everyone.
I for one will be watching for it starting and for those grim reapers below who all know about the shower incident etc - how come you know, if you were not watching!!!

Can't wait for the new Dallas to start!!!!!!!!!!! Been addicted to Dallas since the70,s. Original cast look great, just wish Victoria Principal was appearing. Good luck!!!!!!!!

If you want to insult somebody little John boy, at least spell it correctly. there is a capital letter at the start of both names & your'e as opposed to your.
To somebody of such low intelligence, I feel I have to point this out. To help further, there is a check spelling button next to the post one.
It is obvious that when you leave your village for the day, there is a job vacancy.

I wonder if any of the commenters actually remember Dallas? Or are you just jumping on the negative badwagon? Like it or not it was the program everybody was watching in the 80's. Top ratings.The idiotic story about Bobby being in the shower and Pam dreaming for a whole series was the start of the end however.I doubt if the new programme will have as much success as the original. But who knows?

..you know --it's the same story, I really hope 'they' handle the return series with thought and cleverness. Everyone ought to know you must be careful when doing a follower-up or on, as it rarely tops the original! Easy?

One hr a week is too much.....Its enough torture watching silly little cu..ts skating and singing to get voted off a 2 bob shows 52 weeks a year and far fetched tripe in eastenders not alone the american mirror image.It was bollo.ks then and thats when the actors and actresses had their marbles not about 85 falling about sha..ing their PA'S with stretch marks and skid marks and more botox than jordan....dont talk rot......what reference has an oil company got with england anyway......we import everything.....you dont see some dopey stetson wearing yank with a ford mustang selling shares in leytonstone do ya.
